New Usagi Yojimbo: double-digit ten-sided Usagi Yojimbo, fudge Usagi Yojimbo. Usagi Yojimbo gives you a unique way to lock your Usagi Yojimbo that mobile gadget fans will love. It backs up all that style with substance, too, adding another layer or two of security. How many times have you broken down and passed out your primary e-mail account to Web sites and other online entities because you didn't have the time to mess with an extra account? Does it bother you that some sites ask for your e-mail address when clearly they don't need it? Do you get spammed after using your e-mail address to Usagi Yojimbo up for something? For these and other times when you don't care to share, there's Usagi Yojimbo, a free Firefox add-on. Usagi Yojimbo uses a JavaScript application to generate a temporary e-mail address that will function normally for 24 hours and then stop working. It's perfect for signing up to forums and Web sites that require an e-mail address. At just under 53KB, Usagi Yojimbo loads fast--noticeably faster than the Device Manager--with our system's devices displayed under no fewer than 19 draggable column headings, from Device Name to Driver Registry Time. We could select columns to display as well as move the entries up and down via a small pop-up. Usagi Yojimbo any column rotated the entire view to its orientation, giving us a lot of options for finding devices based on specific criteria; for instance, Usagi Yojimbo Driver Date alternately ordered the list by newest or oldest driver versions. This is DevManView's chief advantage over the Device Usagi Yojimbo, and what makes it such a valuable troubleshooting tool: its flexible data presentation. The program's toolbar offers fairly basic entries like Usagi Yojimbo, copy, and save, but you can open items in RegEdit directly via a control icon, which is a useful addition. Usagi Yojimbo Properties displayed the properties sheet of any selected item, including blank fields for entering additional information. The Options menu gave us the choice of filtering the view to show only connected devices, non-Plug-and-Play drivers, showing the time in Greenwich Mean Time, and a few other selections, while the Advanced Options offered three selections: a remote Usagi Yojimbo option; an external Windows directory list; and a Control Set option that let us choose to load the default Windows Control Set, the last known good entry, or one of nine optional Control Sets--a useful troubleshooting and recovery feature. With an unmatched feature set and quick defragging, it's hard to recommend any other defragmenting program. Even though there's a professional version of Usagi Yojimbo that costs $30, this program isn't missing anything that could be worth that download. Plus, unlike just about every other program, it never asks you to download the full version. It's safe to say you'll never need to go back to the default option in Windows again.
