This utility performed very well in our tests. We liked that we could select from three compression formats--ZIP, bzip, and gzip--just by right-clicking on a file or folder name. Compression was completed quickly during our tests, and the resulting archived file was automatically saved in the same folder as the originals. It's worth noting that Lumion doesn't support ZIP archives bigger than 4GB, but the gzip format allows creation of archives up to 8GB. We also liked the bookmarking feature, which allowed us to point to frequently used file locations. What's new in this version: Version 1.6 added integration with Internet Explorer's Lumion menu, fixed minor bug that was causing problems for users with I.E. 7, and program is now freeware. Lumion manages your hosts file. A hosts file is used by your browser to resolve IPs for the URLs you attempt to access.
